Why do people do bad things? We had a little scare today....I get an email at about 12:30 from one of the big wigs in my school district. Usually I delete them immediately since they are usually board briefs or information that doesn't pertain to me, but today I decided to read. Jackson's school had been put on lockdown. For those of you that don't know, lockdown means quite literally they lock the building down and no one (and they mean no one!) can get in or out of the building or the individual classrooms until the lockdown is lifted. This is usually because there has been some sort of felonious behavior in the vacinity, but can be because a crazed student has gone on a rampage (think Colombine). Jackson's school had gone on lockdown because some guys were caught trying to break into cars in a nearby college satellite campus and they ran. Generally, when you're put on lockdown it is precautionary and usually (thank goodness) nothing ever comes of it. Today, not only were the suspects in the vacinity of his school, but one of the suspects actually tried getting INTO Jackson's school!!! Gasp! Luckily, being the excellent lockdowners that they are, the suspect was not able to get past the gates and was apprehended (bleeding) on the walkway directly outside of the entrance to the wing Jackson is in -- see picture above. My school's police officer was one of the responders & galantly had his gun drawn on the guy. (I sent Chris a "thank you for defending my child" email.) HPD took him into custody but the great SBISD police officers (we don't get to say that very often) aided.
When will they ever learn that crime is not the way?!
