I am so behind on blogging! It seems like I have been so busy lately. I am getting ready to go back to school to get my M.Ed and principal's certificate, so there's lots of prep work with that. Then I have had a TON of grading, which I loathe. We should totally get teacher's aids, but with the legislative cuts, that clearly will not happen. It must be birthday season too - we have 6 birthday parties to attend in the next 2 weeks. On top of that, I have been sucked in....I have succumbed to Twilight. Aaron was out of town this last weekend and after a rough day at the crowded zoo, I decided to curl up with a book - well, on my iPad anyway. I decide to see what the hype was all about and long story short, by Monday I was half way into the 3rd book in the series. Nuts! I love it! I totally get it now. A few of my friends and I have been talking about how funny it is that these books can turn grown women into "teeny boppers," as Aaron puts it. Aaron has been making relentless fun of me and believes he is "losing me to that iPad." Wrong honey - you are losing me to Edward & Jacob. Ha! My students are getting a huge kick out of my newest obsession.
Anyway, I promise to post about my pretty babies very soon! I have Emme's 20 month post in the works and Jackson has been cracking me up on a regular basis too. So if you still read...please hold out a wee bit longer! Cross my heart...

Emme Chatter
I feel like Emme's vocabulary has more than exploded in the last few weeks. I made a list a couple of days ago (I won't bore you with it, but lists are my thing) and Emme knows well over 50 words not including names. My favorite are bubbish (bubbles), nose and toes. She puts this adorable emphasized "s" sound on the last two. Love it! She is also starting to speak in more sentences. She will ask for things in sentences "orange please, momma" or "where's Jackson?". She is starting to talk on the phone more, saying hi to whomever she is talking to and usually I love you, bye when she is done talking. She is singing all the time and can even actually sing the correct words to parts of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. How I wonder....up above the world.... That amazes me since Jackson didn't start really singing words to songs until MUCH later! She is also saying words to go along with the ABC song but not the right words. She can start with A but only gets the tune right other than that.
We just love our little chatterbox!

Sally Sunshine
My sweet Emme has been quite the cranky butt lately! She IS teething (upper canines), but I think it has more to do with her giving up her 2nd nap. She now flat out refuses to take a 2nd nap (I'm talking catapulting herself out of her bed & not even blinking an eye) and now she is an absolute MONSTER in the evenings and even in the mornings. Her teachers say she is fine during the day, but I think she isn't getting enough sleep. This is SO out of character for Emme - she's normally so easy going. Of course all of this could be just that she is 19.5 months and close to the "terrible twos." I don't remember how old Jackson was when he stopped taking 2 naps. I could go look in his baby book or this blog, but I haven't yet. So here's my question to you: 1. When did your kids stop taking a second nap? Also, what time do your little ones go to bed? We can never seem to get in bed until 8:00 or 8:30pm. By the time I get home between 5:00-5:30pm, play a bit, cook dinner, eat, bath, read bedtime book(s), it is always 8:00-8:30pm. So in a nutshell, my sweet baby's sour disposition could be:
a. teething
b. not enough sleep
c. terrible twos
d. something else that I haven't even considered
It's enough to make you crazy!
