Easter 2012

This year we had a wonderful Easter!  We started off at church & Emme as usual, cried all through her Sunday School class.  What is wrong with her?  But she said she did enjoy putting the flowers on the cross for Jesus!  That's my girl!  After church, we went home to find the kids' Easter baskets and had a quick egg hunt before heading out to Gabby & PaPa's for the day.  Gabby made DELICIOUS food, as usual, the kids had another hunt there and we spent the day relaxing.  Good day.

Easter Possum???

We had a very lovely Easter this year, despite the rocky start.  There was drama surrounding finding Jackson an Easter outfit.  Jackson has outgrown every pair of pants he owns, well unless there is a flood and then he's golden!  I searched high & low, went to no less than 7 stores before finally finding him suitable pants the night before.  Easter morning, we get up and I go get him dressed and they don't fit.  Ugh!  I could cinch them up in the waist and they were long enough, but the legs were massive and totally unacceptable.  So since I had no backup plan, we heathens didn't go to chucrh on Easter.  :(  I know, terrible, right?  So this year our Easter consisted of an egg hunt at our house, another egg hunt at Yaya & Pops' house and of course, yummy food!  Cedar plank salmon & asparagus {love}!  Here are a few pics...

We left my parents' early because Aaron had to clean our gutters before our HOA strung him up.  While he was working our neighbor (a wonderful retired lady, Karen who lives alone) came running over saying something was in her garage.  Keep in mind that Aaron's mom has instilled a deep screaming (like a girl) fear of any and all rodents in him since birth, but he went right over and set out a trap and caught it for her.  Karen hates them so much, she wanted Aaron to get his pitch fork after him, but I felt sorry for the little guy and snuck a dish of water into the cage and forbid Aaron from killing it.  You can't kill one of God's creatures on Easter!  The poor fella got into some D-Con in her garage and I'm afraid he wasn't long for this world, but he was still a-hissin' when Aaron drove him out to the country and let him go.

Better Late than Never

I forgot to post these during Easter, but when the Easter bunny came to the kids' school, Emme was sick. I stayed home with her, but didn't want her to miss the Easter Bunny picture for her book they make each year, so I took her back up when it was her class's turn. Easter 2010

We started off our Easter with the neighborhood egg hunt on 3/28/10. As a member of the mom's group, I had the priviledge of setting up (aka hiding) the eggs. When we walked up to the pavilion, there was a line for pictures with the Easter Bunny, so we decided we catch him after the hunt. Little did we know that the Easter Bunny just had knee replacement surgery & couldn't stick around the whole time. Bummer! It was a quick hunt, but we had fun!

Easter Sunday we went to church and then to my parents' house for Easter lunch. My brother, Brennan & his girlfriend, Megan were in town for a wedding, so we got to visit with them too! Jackson is in L.O.V.E with Megan so he was super excited to see her again. We ate gluttonous amounts of food, hunted more eggs and the kids got 3 Easter baskets each - one from Yaya, one from Nana and one from Clay. No, what are you talking about? They're not spoiled!

Notice the shoes on Emme: these are the 1st shoes we've EVER found that fit her teeny, concubine feet! They are 0-3 months on my 9.5 month old.

Easter

Our Easter was wonderful! My brother, Brennan came into town from San Antonio and he and Jackson had a grand time playing together! Jackson got lots of goodies -- he had 3 Easter baskets. One was from Aunt Christie & Uncle Hoot, one from Yaya & Pops and then one from Mommy & Daddy. Each of them was filled with way too much candy and then he got some toy airplanes, a giant coloring book & crayons, some bubbles, various other little cars and other toys. He loved every bit of it! We spent most of the weekend at my parents' house and since Sunday was rainy, we had to have an indoor egg hunt. Didn't phase Jackson though -- in fact, we even rehid the eggs later in the afternoon so he could find them all over again. It was super cute to see Jackson experience his first Easter egg hunts!

Coloring eggs -- we got a different kind of dye kit this year. You put the egg into a plastic bag & then drop the dye in and mash it around. I figured it'd be cleaner & more manageable for Jackson and it makes tie-dye looking eggs.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

Jackson participated in his first Easter egg hunt on Sunday. Our neighborhood hosts one every year. There were tons of little ones and they separated them into age groups so the babies didn't get trampled. Good thinking -- those big kids were ruthless! Jackson was a little timid at first, but he quickly got the hang of it. By the time it was all said & done, Aaron & I were holding overflow and Jackson's basket was still full! Jackson had no idea they were filled with candy, so that was not his motivation for collecting as many as he did. We had to empty all the candy out of the eggs and give them back since they reuse the plastic eggs every year. We secretly kept one since it was his first hunt -- you gotta have something for the book (or in our case, the box), right?
