23 (and a half) Months Old

Emerson will officially be 2 in 2 weeks - I'm a little late on this post.  Oops!  She is such a doll!  I wish I could just bottle her up and keep her just like this!  She is so full of life and energy and she definitely keeps us on our toes!  Ok, let's see...things she can do:

*Her speech is very advanced (or so I'm told).  You can understand almost all of what she says, but she does occasionally need a translator for people outside our realm.
*She sings songs constantly.  Her favorites are You are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, ABCs (which she knows all of), and the Hiney song Aaron's grandmother used to sing to them (it's pretty funny!).
*She can put on & take off her own pants & shoes.  She takes off her shoes constantly - it's rather annoying when you go to get her out of the car at a store or at school and she's shoeless!
*She LOVES to brush her teeth and usually doesn't mind when I step in for a "turn" at brushing her teeth.
*She LOVES and I mean LOVES! to swim!  She's quite the daredevil, jumping off the sides and going under water.  She likes to be thrown up in the air in the pool.
*She goes up & down stairs with ease
*Sits in a booster at the kitchen table and uses a fork & spoon with ease.  She hates high chair or boosters at restaurants, so she usually just sits in a normal chair (or stands in the chair).
*She's rough & tough and can take whatever her brother dishes out and then some!
*She's finally down to one nap, usually around noon-2pm and then will sleep 10-11 hours at night.
*She rarely smiles in "posed" pictures, but has the most infectious laugh!

 Real lady like there, Em!

Stoic even on a carousel!

Emme Kate, you are my sunshine!

One more month

One more month until Jackson is TWO! Today my little man is 23 months old. He's such a little boy now - not a baby anymore. It is sort of bittersweet. He is amazing! You can carry on an actual conversation with him. Yesterday on the way home from school, I asked what he did at school. Jackson: play with bubbles. Me: Oh, yeah? You love bubbles. How fun! What else did you do? Jackson: play outside. Jackson fall. Me: you did? How did you fall? Jackson: Fall off slide. It's totally cool! He's totally cool! He has started singing along to Old Mac Donald, Little Bunny Foo Foo & Itsy Bitsy Spider - I need to get it on video! He's done The Wheels on the Bus for a long time now, but it's still cute!
We've recently moved him out of his high chair and into a booster at the table. He climbs right in now. It's great! We plan on moving him into his toddler bed during the Christmas break. Right now, he's still not trying to climb out or anything, so I see no reason to rush it. He's showing more signs that potty training is in his near future. The other night he spent the night with Yaya & Pops. When Yaya was bathing him, she said he got a funny look on his face and she asked him if he needed to go poo-poo. He said no. tee-tee. and then started peeing in the bath tub. Not the ideal situation, but in my mind, at least he recognizes the feeling and knows what's going to happen.

My sweet, active, sweaty little 23 month old Wacko!
