In a month...

In a month, this little booger will be ONE! I am stunned at how quickly it goes. Aaron laughs at me because I get emotional thinking about how I don't want them to grow up. I mean, I do, but I really don't. You mommies know what I mean! I want to always be able to hold her and kiss her under that sweet chin to make her giggle. I want to always be able to sneak into her room at night and pick her up and rock her back and forth, back and forth, but I know there will come a time when I can't and that makes me sad. I don't even think Aaron knows I do that with both kids - just like that book: Love You Forever - I cherish those times and unlike the little old lady that seems to be able to hoist that big man up, I know that I won't be able to do that! :( So for now, I will relish in the fact that I can and I will kiss under that adorable chin as often as I can!

Emme's chair pictures were a lot more difficult this month. These were the best 2 I got. These. :/ On to the report:
MOVEMENT: Emme is officially 100% crawling in the traditional way. She pulls up on EVERYTHING, even the dog, who takes it surprisingly well. My how she has mellowed since Jackson! Yesterday, Emme climbed up a few stairs and was hanging on the railing. Ok, so now we have to go back to putting the gate at the bottom of the stairs up. This will infuriate Jackson, but we gotta do it.
EATING: Emme has started to be pretty picky about eating. She still will eat any meat and any fruit, but has now decided that if it is green, she won't eat it. I have to get really creative to get her to eat broccoli, asparagus or peas. Actually, she will sometimes eat peas straight, but the others I have to hide in meat or mashed potatoes or some type of sauce. We have begun the transition to whole milk - *gasp* I know, I know. Before her first birthday? I caught her with Jackson's sippy one day, so I knew she had already had a taste and besides we are almost out of formula, so I figured what the hey? I've been mixing formula and whole milk and she LOVES it. She will now cry when it is gone. She never did that before with straight formula or even with breastmilk really. A papi would always fix it, but nothing will stop this crying except more milk!
TALKING: Nothing really new on this front. She still has only said Dada a few times in context and Mama twice to get my attention. She seems to say "ack" in conjunction with Jackson, like when she seems him from afar. I like to think she is trying to say his name, but who really knows? We are working on verbal skills all the time. She is a crazy babbler though!
SIZE: I have no idea how much she weighs, but I am sure she is growing. Her clothing sizes vary depending on brand, but she can wear pretty much anything 6-12 months. Although, my mom bought her some clothes the other day and she wore one thing that was 3-6 months and another thing (the one in the chair picture above) that is 18 months. She's all over the map! She still seems to have tiny feet. She can wear size ones in Gymboree, GAP, Old Navy and Pediped, except in the BabiesRUs brand, she needs a 2.
Her hair is getting thicker and thicker and it seems to be staying a pretty dark brown. Not at all as light as Jackson's! She has begun to pull her hairbows out (grrrr!), so you'll see more pictures of her without bows now. She has 2 bottom teeth and the upper left should be in anyday now. I have been watching it for a while. She has a smile that lights up my life and she shows it every chance she gets! So that's my sweet Emme Kate! In one more month, she will be ONE!
As I said, she pulls up on EVERYTHING!

She loves to play Patty Cake!

She can wear this monkey's shoes!
See.

And just for kicks:

Jackson is 11 Months Old!

As promised, here is the video of Jackson saying "Hi" & "Bye-Bye" while in the bath.

Jackson is 11 months old today! Man, how time flies! I can't believe that in just one month it will have been an entire year that we've had this precious little man in our lives! We are so blessed and now it's hard to imagine a time when there was no Jackson Dean Hiler. He is the absolute light of our lives and we enjoy EVERY second with our Wacko! Now for brag time:

  • Jackson drinks 12-15 oz of milk a day & at least 1 sippy cup of water a day. He won't hold the sippy cup by himself, which is really frustrating, but we're working on it.

  • Takes 2 naps a day - one at school from around 10 -12:30 & another in the late afternoon from 4:30-5:45 or 6. He goes to bed later than most babies, so this works for us!

  • He crawls on all fours (finally) almost exclusively. He finally figured out that army crawling is MUCH slower & who has time for that?

  • He walks around the coffee table, behind push toys, ottoman, & boxes -- if you haven't seen the box video, check it out below!

  • He can climb up as many as 7 stairs (supervised, of course). We are working on learning to go down on our bottom.

  • He eats almost any kind of table food, but has started to reject certain veggies (peas, mainly). I try & make him eat them anyway by disguise. He still LOVES broccoli & asparagus!

  • He says: dada, mama, hi & bye-bye -- has said yaya a couple of times, but we're still not sure it's the real deal. He also says "ba," which we think means bath since he says it when he sees his duck bath tub.

  • He waves at everything - even a picture of a prisoner on TV this afternoon. He's an equal opportunity waver! ;)

  • He loves to swing, go for walks, play with boxes, playing catch & taking baths.

  • He gives kisses - the good open mouth slobbery ones! We love 'em!

  • He claps usually after we clap, but occasionally when he knows he's done something good.

He is generally the happiest, most easy going baby so Aaron & I are scared to have another one. They say the second one is nothing like the first. (Not that there are any plans, yet!)

Well, Jackson: Mommy & Daddy love you with all our hearts! Happy 11 Month Birthday, little one!
