10 Months

Emerson turned 10 months on Friday. It is like someone turned on a switch inside her within the last 6 weeks or so. She has really started to exert her personality on us and is just a little doll! She is the happiest baby (unless she is hungry), in fact her teachers have said on many occasions that they wish they had a class full of Emmes. She is extremely easy going & tolerant. Jackson often tries to pick her up and ends up dragging her by the arm or even by the neck and she just rolls with it. We freak out. She rolls with it.
Lately....

• She crawls backwards?????
• She rolls EVERYWHERE! No more leaving her in the playroom with out the gate at the stairs up!
• She tries to pull up on everything!
• She hasn't met a meat she doesn't like (Jackson is the complete opposite).
• She still sleeps 12 hours at night, but is an unpredictable napper. This one LOVES her bed! She will get so angry & will be inconsolable and we can start to walk up the stairs and as we open her door, she will immediately start to calm down. By the time we lay her down in her bed, she will almost let out a "ehhh" of relief as she rolls over and falls fast asleep!
• She claps (not new) & plays pattycake (new!) & occasionally blows kisses.
• She says "Dada!" She first said it in context on April 11. She pointed & said it as Aaron was walking up, but has only done it in context again, one other time.
• She babbles incessantly!
• She is growing. Rapidly! Last week she weighed in at 18 lbs 5 oz and was 27.75 inches long.
• She has finally graduated to 9 month clothing in some brands, but can still wear 3-6 months on others (like Gymboree).
• She finally has 2 pairs of shoes that fit her tiny feet! Size 3-6 months.
• She still has just the 2 teeth.
• She loves to be outside, whether at the playground, in the sling or in the stroller.
• She ADORES her big brother and the feeling is entirely mutual!
• She is an absolute delight and if I wasn't a sane person, I might consider having another one JUST like her! But I AM a sane person, so I will just delight in the fact that I have two really terrific kiddos!

Who is this kid & what has he done with my baby?

Jackson turned 10 months old yesterday. I CAN'T believe it! He's doing so much now:
- He still army crawls, but man is he fast! He even chases the dog & cat on his belly.
- He has 1 tooth & 3 that are poking through - teething is fun, let me tell you!
- He can pull himself to standing - usually does this on someone, but has pulled up on the coffee table
- Eats everything in sight! His favorites are chicken fajita, mac-n-cheese, avocado, carrots, & of course, mandarin oranges. He recently was introduced to pizza (at school - I had nothing to do with it). He has eaten salmon too and seemed to like it. His Yaya gave him chocolate chip cookies & created a monster! We switched to ginger snaps 'cause they're cleaner.
- Drinks pretty well from a sippy cup, but will take the lazy way out and let you hold it if you let him
- He waves at everything - plants, reflections, the dog, complete strangers. (Don't worry Brennan, we will have the stranger talk with him).
- Says "dada" on a regular basis and at the right times. He says "mama" too, but only when he cries & I'm not sure he is really calling for me, but I like to think he is.
- Starting to clap, we think.
- Sleeps well in his bed usually. We had a little adjustment period after Hurricane Ike, but he seems to be back on track.
- Imitates sounds we make -- he clicks his tongue after us
- Survived his first hurricane
- Loves his mommy & daddy!
